June 2nd: Almaty to Shymkent

June 2nd: Almaty to Shymkent
Two locals on the outskirts of Shymkent watching the rally drive by.

Today we drove over 700km, approximately 5% of the total distance of the rally. On a map we covered almost the entire length of Kyrgyzstan. We had one regularity that went great and a sporting section that went okay. Once we were back on pavement we drove west along the mountains that formed the southern border. It was beautiful but difficult to drive such a long distance in a day. Shymkent is a busy and stressful city in the daytime but I went for a walk in the evening and enjoyed the cool air and calmer city life on foot.
